Suttons Group hits the road with China acquisition

CHESHIRE headquartered global logistics provider Suttons Group, has acquired Chinese transport company Han Chi Logistics Co. Ltd.

Financial details were not disclosed, but the Widnes company, which is already active in China with a 86,000 sq ft base near Shanghai and offices in Tianjin, Nanjing, Qingdao and Guangzhou, said the deal would help it to develop its operational footprint in China and increase the range of services it can offer customers in Asia.

Turnover for Suttons’ ultimate parent company, Thomas Cradley Holdings rose 9% to £148.5m in the year to April 2012. The family-owned business has more than 700 employees worldwide.
 
John Sutton, group chief executive said: “The acquisition is an important development for the business and forms part of our growth strategy in China. This will enable us to offer a wider range of services to customers whilst ensuring that we continue to provide the highest levels of SHEQ (safety, health, environmental and quality and customer service standards.”

Suttons Asia has its regional HQ in Singapore. As well as China it is also active in Japan and Malaysia, with operations close to chemical manufacturing zones.
