Ainscough wins Northwich homes consent

AINSCOUGH Strategic Land (ASL) has secured planning permission for 237 houses on agricultural land on the edge of Northwich.

The scheme will sit between existing housing in Leftwich and the River Dane.

Last month Communities Secretary Eric Pickles overturned Chester and Cheshire West’s decision to block applications from Harrow Estates and Bridgemere Land for 650 houses on the other side of the town at Hartford.

Leigh-based Ainscough, which was forced to scale back the scheme during the planning process due to traffic fears, is also promising to create a 100-acre riverside meadow.

Planning director John Brooks said “It promises to be a fabulous scheme in a unique location. The masterplan went through independent design review which concluded it would represent an ‘exceptional extension to Northwich’.

“The scheme will deliver a range of dwellings from much needed new executive style homes through to a full offer of affordable units. In addition the scheme provides a major community benefit through the creation of a new 100-acre riverside public meadow which will come to represent a fantastic resource for the people of Leftwich and Rudheath.”

The company was advised by Manchester-based HOW Planning. Associate Richard Barton said: “We carried out a significant amount of pre-application work, engaging with various public and private bodies including the LPA [local planning authority], Environment Agency, local councillors and the community to ensure this development will provide a real public benefit to Northwich. Now that it has been approved all the advantageous elements of this scheme can be realised.”
