Speedy hires Deloitte for forensic investigation

SPEEDY Hire has enlisted forensic accountants from Deloitte to examine the problems in its international division, which emerged last week and prompted the resignation of chief executive Steve Corcoran.

Deloitte will work on an independent investigation with law firm Addleshaw Goddard into the accounting problems which include the mis-statement of a number of accounting balances.

Separately, the Newton-le-Willows-based group said Mike McGrath, managing director, international asset services, has left the group board.

Mr McGrath, a former lawyer with Pinsent Masons, had been with the company for seven years. His departure was announced on November 12 as Speedy reported its half-year results and before the accounting issues were known.

This week new chief operating officer Mark Rogerson joined the board. Mr Rogerson has previousl;y worked for Costian Group, where he was MD of its natural resources division, and before that he spend eight years with Serco.
