Crawford Healthcare buys rival

CRAWFORD Healthcare, the Cheshire woundcare and dermatology treatments supplier, has acquired a rival and several of its brands.

It has bought Bedford-based Archimed for an undisclosed sum along with its wound care brands, Iodozyme and Oxyzyme.

Both use patented technology to kill infection in wounds and aid wound healing.

The company said the brands fit “perfectly” with Crawford’s existing Flaminal treatment which it said is showing strong growth.

Chief executive Richard Anderson said: “This acquisition further strengthens our portfolio and technology base. With Crawford’s sales and marketing strength we are confident we can drive further revenues in the anti-microbial sector. It also makes the Crawford portfolio more attractive to our international partners.”

The company has 11 shareholders, with the largest stakes held by Clare Hughes and Sarah Anderson. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
