Self build lending award for The Furness

THE Furness Building Society has won national recognition as the Best Lender for Self Builders in the 2013 ‘Build It’ Awards.

The Cumbria-based mutual was recognised for its flexible and pragmatic approach to self build lending across the country.

  

The Furness has developed specialist mortgage products for self builders and property renovators designed to provide the funding they need at key stages of their projects.  It can also source insurance products for self builders, an important part of providing security for the projects.

Martin Cutbill, director of sales and marketing said: “Self build projects account for a significant number of the new homes being built each year in the UK, but they are quite different from a normal mortgage proposition.
 

“At the Furness we specialise in designing the products our customers need, and also dealing with people on an individual basis instead of letting a computer make the decisions for us.  That personal approach is particularly well suited to the self build market because it is so diverse, and each project is different.”

The Best Lender for Self Builders title is the second national award won recently by the Furness which was named ‘Best Regional Building Society’ for the second consecutive year by industry title Mortgage Finance Gazette.

The Barrow-in-Furness based building society has 10 branches in the region, as far south as Bolton and Liverpool.
