Appointments: Weightmans hires three; Lovell & more

WEIGHTMANS, the Liverpool-based national law firm has announced three new hires, two at partner level.

Andrew Roberts has the firm as a partner in commercial dispute resolution. He becomes the fifth commercial litigation partner based at Liverpool ofice.

He joins from DLA Piper, where he spent 20 years and was made partner in 2007.

Commenting on his switch, Mr Roberts said: “I am excited about my new role at Weightmans LLP. I am looking forward to working with the rest of the team here to grow both the CDR and commercial business lines.”

Weightmans has also bolstered its environment team with Simon Colvin joining as a partner to lead the department from Manchester and Gillian Hulme moving to the Liverpool office as an associate.

Mr Colvin was previously legal director at Pinsent Masons before joining Weightmans, and Gillian Hulme was a senior associate at Herbert Smith Freehills.

LIVERPOOL Community Health (LCH) NHS Trust has appointed John Coyne as director of business development.

In his role with the Trust he will develop the marketing and tendering of services across the organisation to help it expanding its community health services across Merseyside and the surrounding regions.

Mr Coyne as previously held a number of senior director roles, including for Stena Line, Liverpool Football Club, and Sports Council for Wales, and more recently was chief executive for Dudley Infracare LIFT, which  provides specialist services to the NHS.

AFFORDABLE housing developer and regeneration specialist Lovell has appointed two new development coordinators to its Altrincham-based North West regional office.

Matt Jones has joined the company from VINCI Construction, where he was a design coordinator, while Mike Mercer previously worked for Keepmoat Homes as development coordinator.

Both will be responsible for managing the design and construction of construction schemes by Lovell across the region and will play a key role in helping the firm win new work.

Regional director Nigel Yates said: “Matt and Mike are both highly experienced in managing high-value, complex construction schemes, appointing and managing design consultants and successfully tendering for new work. They will play an important part in our continuing expansion in the region and ensure that we make the most of the opportunities offered as the construction market begins to recover.”

DJS Research, a market research company based at Strines near Stockport, has made a number of promotions and appointments as it continues to grow.

Promoted are: Alexandra Noden who has become a senior research executive; Claire Jackson, who has moved from an operations role to become a research executive; Lyn Allen has moved to a new role of research manager role within the operations team; Julia Schofield and Hee Rha have taken permanent roles within the agency’s in-house customer satisfaction research unit and Elliot Simmonds has become senior marketing executive.

New hires include Jo Williams as a HR and payroll assistant.
