Frankal takes flight for Manchester Airports Group

BARON Frankal, the director of economic strategy at Manchester think tank New Economy, is moving to Manchester Airports Group (MAG).

Mr Frankal has been appointed MAG’s strategy and policy director, reporting to Collette Roche, the group transformation director – a new term for human resources.

He is joining at a significant time for MAG following its acquisition a year ago of Stansted and October’s joint venture with the Beijing Construction Engineering Group (BCEG) to progress the £800m Airport City scheme.

In a statement Collette Roche said: “Having worked closely with MAG on developing the China strategy as part of the Manchester China Forum, Baron comes with a breadth of knowledge in strategy and policy development and is perfectly placed to lead on this area for MAG.”

Mr Frankal is a former City of London corporate lawyer and previously worked as a senior economist at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt before returning to Manchester. He could not be reached for comment.
