VIP Group expands with Nottingham deal

COMPUTER parts distributor VIP Group has bought a £10m turnover business based in Nottingham.

The Warrington-based company, which was founded by India-born entrepreneur Jatti Sahni, has acquired IT hardware firm Ergo Computing for an undisclosed sum.

It was owned by Paul and Janet Madden and Sarah and Neil Bellamy. Mr Bellamy will continue as managing director and retain a stake.

The firm specialises in supplying notebooks and tablets to education and other public sector organisations. It will continue to operate under the Ergo brand from its Nottingham base.

Mr Sahni, VIP’s chairman said: “We have been looking to diversify into this market sector for some time and we see many synergies and spin-off benefits by working in partnership with Ergo. We also believe that VIP Group will produce a stronger and more competitive Ergo. This acquisition represents a further significant investment by VIP Group and demonstrates our on-going commitment to future growth.”

Mr Bellamy said: “This is an exciting time for Ergo Computing and being part of a larger group will ensure we can build on our success in IT products and services within the public sector. This new relationship and support will drive growth over the years to come.”
