Professional Liverpool chief made redundant

THE lobby group Professional Liverpool has made its chief executive redundant after losing most of its funding.
Mark Chadwick, the organisation’s first full-time chief executive, was given his notice at a board meeting last week.
The body, which represents the interests of people working in professional services in the city, has lost 80% of its annual budget as a result of cuts at the North West Development Agency (NWDA).
In July the NWDA announced a raft of more than 100 organisations and projects that would lose out after it was forced to cut £52m, or 18%, from its annual budget by the coalition Government.
When the cuts were announced Mr Chadwick said it was “business as usual” at the organisation. He added: “Given the size and importance of the sector we are making high level representations to secure ongoing funding support.”
In a statement issued yesterday Professional Liverpool said it had responded to the funding changes in a, “positive and structured manner”.
It said the board was confident the organisation would continue to serve its membership and it is aiming to be self-sufficient from membership fees. Further information about its future strategy will be released in three months.
