TWO former North West council chiefs have been named in a top 10 of high-earners compiled by the GMB trade union.

Colin Hilton, who retired from his post as chief executive at Liverpool City Council in June, was the sixth highest earning council chief in England in 2009-10 on £278,000.

Cumbria's Peter Stybelski, who retired on health grounds in August 2009, was named as the highest earner on £464,000, but this figure included pension contributions of £351,000.
