Growth Hub welcomes enterprise minister

SKILLS and enterprise minister Matthew Hancock was today meeting entrepreneurs who have received  assistance from the Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub.

Ahead of the discussion with the businessmen and women at the Growth Hub’s city centre base, Cheshire-born and raised Mr Hancock said the government was focused on creating the right ecosystem for SMEs to thrive.

He also praised the Growth Hub, which was set up to offer a co-ordinated approach to business support and funding in the city region.

“Small businesses are the cornerstone upon which our long term economic plan is built. In order for them to thrive they need the support to start up and scale up. It is our job to make sure that small businesses have the best environment to support their ambitions. Growth Hubs like this one for the Greater Manchester area help them gain access to the right services which will help them grow, ” Mr Hancock said.

Richard Jeffery, who runs the Growth Hub added: “Over the past two years we have brought together many different strands of business support for Greater Manchester to form a unique and successful combination of private and public sector expertise working together to stimulate business growth.

“We are here to help to create new and higher growth businesses in Greater Manchester and the wider North West and the companies here  to meet the Minister really are representative of the many ambitious and incredibly hardworking companies that are helping to build sustained growth for the region.”
