Stark Brooks celebrates 30 year milestone at Rovers Return

CLIENTS, including a number of the North West’s leading executives, staff and friends turned out in force to celebrate recruitment company Stark Brooks’ 30 years in business last night.

The Manchester firm hired the former set of Coronation Street, and guests enjoyed drinks in the famous Rovers Return pub, before taking a tour – and many photographs on the famous cobbled streets of Weatherfield – Corrie’s fictional location.

Guests included Redow boss Steve Morgan and NCC Group chief executive Rob Cotton – who both paid tribute to Stark Brooks; impact on their businesses.

The recruiter’s chairwoman, Sally Toumi, spoke about the growth of the business – and her two-year battle against cancer – and how it has inspired her to raise funds for Manchester’s Christie Hospital.

She said: “Despite changing, and sometimes challenging economic climates over 30 years our values haven’t changed. We pride ourselves on being passionate about recruitment, inspiring you to be the best and recruit the best and importantly working in partnership.

“Our current team is the best it’s ever been and we’re ambitious. Not only do we have some of the best recruiters in the industry, those recruiters are loyal and committed. We have gone from working in Manchester to operating nationally and sometimes internationally and have broadened our activities too from just finance  professionals.”

Turning to her charity crusade she said: “Two years ago I was diagnosed with cancer.  As a result of this I and Stark Brooks are now committed to supporting The Christie and the next challenge is a 350km cycle ride in Africa that takes place in November.”

Other guests ncluded Vanda Murray, a board member of Manchester Airports Group and Carillion, Tim Kowalski, finance director of Findel plc, Brother UK managing director Phil Jones, Claire Watkins, managing director of Trendsetter Home Furnishings, and advertising company boss Nicky Unsworth of BJL.
