Isle of Man highlights opportunities at IFB

THE Isle of Man is showcasing its trade opportunities and is hosting a number of events at the International Festival for Business 2014.

The Isle of Man Department of Economic Developmen sees IFB 2014, hosted in Liverpool over the next tow months, as a key opportunity to strengthen existing links as well as forge new international relationships.

The theme for the first week of the festival is Maritime, Logistics and Energy, and the Isle of Man will kick things off with a unique opportunity to view the most advanced electric racing motorbikes that have been developed which will have recently competed in the Isle of Man TT Zero event.

Also taking place next week, the Isle of Man Maritime Group is hosting a series of events showcasing it as a centre of maritime excellence.

In addition there will be a series of breakfast events designed to show why the Isle of Man is an attractive business location for many sectors. Breakfasts will cover employability and skills on the Island (June 18), high-tech manufacturing and ICT (June 25), managing family offices (July 1) and e-business (July 16).

The Isle of Man’s strong presence at  IFB comes after a recent Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Liverpool City Region to deepen links and promote co-operation.

Max Steinberg, chair of IFB 2014, said: “The Isle of Man has traditionally enjoyed strong links with the Liverpool City Region, economically and culturally.

“The Isle of Man has been a supporter of IFB 2014 from the start and I am delighted it will have a strong presence across the 50 days. With expertise in areas such as maritime, clean tech, e-Business and aviation, I am sure the Isle of Man’s events will prove very popular and lead to even more business opportunities for the island’s successful economy.”

The Isle of Man’s minister for economic development John Shimmin said:
“IFB 2014 represents a unique opportunity for the Isle of Man to showcase its status as an international business centre at this major global business event in Liverpool, a city with which we enjoy deep historical, commercial and cultural ties.”
