Insurance industry gathers for awards

INSURERS and brokers from across Greater Manchester will gather in the city next week for the industry’s annual awards.

The lunch event, now in its third year, recognises the dedication and talent in the Manchester insurance market.

Around 250 industry figures are expected to attend the awards at the Lowry Hotel on September 23 which are organised by the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Norrie Erwin, president of the Insurance Institute of Manchester said: “I would like to congratulate all the finalists in the Manchester Insurance Awards 2010. It is so important that we celebrate the talent and achievements of those in the Manchester insurance market and recognise the professionalism and dedication that is put in.

“The awards are going from strength to strength and this year has seen a record attendance and a record number of entries from companies both large and small.”

The judges are Chris Hanks, president of the Chartered Insurance Institute; Alec Finch, chairman, AFL Insurance Brokers; Claire Bushen, partner, Beachcroft; Colin Campbell, head of risk management, Arcadia Group; Angela Darling, executive insurance consultant, Angela Darling Consulting.

The finalists are:

General Broker of the Year – Bridge Insurance Brokers; Swinton; Caunce O’Hara.

Training and Development – Broker Direct and Create Solutions; CDL; Ecclesiastical.

Service Provider of the Year – Cunningham Lindsey; MSL; Create Solutions

Claims Initiative of the Year – Premex Insight; Co-operative Financial Services; Cunningham Lindsey.

Underwriting Initiative of the Year – RSA; Chubb; Insure IT

President’s Award for Outstanding Achievement – Asif Khan – Ecclesiastical; Stuart Turnbull – CBG
