Warm weather wooing crowds to RHS Flower Show at Tatton

ORGANISERS of the annual RHS Flower Show, Tatton Park, are predicting a bumper year thanks to the beautiful weather.

The show opened to RHS members on Wednesday before welcoming the public on Thursday, and early indicators are that walk-up visits are ahead year-on-year, with three more days to go.

The show, which this year features a trench-themed commemorative World War 1 display marking 100 years since the start of the conflict, attracts more than 80,000 visitors every year.

With good weather forecast for the remainder of the weekend, hopes are high that this number could reach 90,000.

An event aimed at wooing business sponsorship was held on Thursday night, where the RHS, a charity, stressed the importance of this source of income to the show’s ongoing success.

They said the broacast media coverage reached 22 million people, print a further 12 million, while RHS Online received more than one million page views and was visited by more than 340,000 unique users.

Darran Lawless, who heads Cheshire East Council’s new property development company, Engine of The North, gave a brief introduction to guests to the opportunities in the county.

He said Engine of The North would help the local authority deliver 20,000 new jobs and 27,000 new homes by 2030.

He said: “The creation of Engine of the North was a bold vision by the council to work its £600m of assets and bring projects to the market. The response has been really positive from the development community.”
