Gorvins reports 12% rise in fee income

HALF year fee income rose 12% to £3.3m at Stockport law firm Gorvins, with a pick-up in property revenues the driving force.

The firm said it had hired an additional 12 staff in the six months to the end of May and is confident of further growth in the full year.

As well as property, litigation, private client and corporate also performed well.

Managing partner Lorraine Lockie said “Our performance in the first six months of the year is a testament to the success of our clients and the hard work of the team. We have started the second half well and expect the full year to improve on our achievement of 7% growth in fee income in each of the last two years.   It was also pleasing to see the firm surpass challenging cash flow targets, as we continue to focus on financial management.”

The majority of Gorvin’s 12 appointments have been in its residential property & conveyancing department where new hires include head of department Adrian Taylor.

Mr Taylor has over 20 years’ legal experience, working across a range of roles which have included overseas property lawyer, property partner and department head, as well as working in-house for a California-based business.

Other new hires include Sarah Edwards who has joined as senior associate from Manchester firm Horwich Cohen Coghlan Solicitors with more than six years experience in Residential Property.

The firm’s Personal Injury department has welcomed the arrival of associate solicitor, Paul Regan from Manchester, who previously worked for Tranter Freeclaim in Wythenshawe.

Further hires include associate solicitor Fatimah Khan, five new conveyancing assistants, a new legal secretary and two new business and marketing executives in the marketing department.

Lorraine Lockie added: “The growth of the firm is down to the professionalism and proactive nature of our team and we wanted to ensure that as our client base grows we are still able to deliver the same high levels of service we’re known for.”
