Strong third quarter sales for Vicrtex
LANCASHIRE-based Victrex, which makes polymers used in smartphones, aeroplanes cars and medical devices, said it is continuing to perform well, with third quarter sales up 21% on last year.
The international company, based on the Fylde coast said it had sold 911 tonnes of product between April 1 and the end of June, with growth in all divisions.
Year-to-date sales are up 16% on 2013 at 2,495 tonnes.
It was not alll good news though. Like another major North West business, PZ Cussons, which said on Tuesday foreign exchange movements had wipes £12m from its operating profits, Victrex said this was a concern.
The company stated: “Looking forward, Sterling has continued to strengthen since our interim results in May and remains a considerable headwind for our next financial year.”
However the overall picture is positive: “With our growth momentum remaining strong and a robust outlook across our markets, we continue to trade in line with market expectations,” the company added.
