Nominations for in-house lawyer awards open

ENTRIES are open for the annual North West In-House Legal Awards, which is run by the Law Society’s regional commerce and industry group.

The awards, now in their fourth year,  recognise the lawyers working in-house at businesses across the region. Categories include In-House Lawyer of the Year, In-House Team of the Year, Young In-House Lawyer of the Year and In-House deal/case of the Year.

Last year’s overall individual winner was Simon Cliff from Manchester City Football Club,  while Manchester Airport Group won In-House Deal of the Year for the major deals to bring in investment and then acquire Stansted Airport in Essex.

Edward Smethurst, chairman of the C&I Group North West, said: “The awards recognise excellence in the North West in-house legal community. We are fortunate to have the most successful and vibrant in-house group in the UK with a very large number of high quality in-house lawyers in the region.

Paul Jonson, managing partner at sponsor Pannone Corporate, added: “The awards have gone from strength to strength over the past few years. Our region has a wealth of highly skilled in-house lawyers and legal teams and these awards are an excellent platform from which to showcase our local talent.”

The awards will take place on November 21 at the Hilton Hotel with around 500 people expected to attend. All proceeds are donated to Cancer Research. Last year the event raised  £20,000 for the charity.

Nominations are invited from company managers, directors and professionals from private practice and close on October 3.
