60 jobs go as Globe Construction folds

WARRINGTON builder Globe Construction has fallen into administration with the loss of 60 jobs.

Lindsey Cooper and Diana Frangou of Baker Tilly have been appointed joint administrators to Globe Management Services Ltd and its parent company Aprilis Holdings.

A further group company, Globe Construction Management Ltd is expected to enter creditors’ voluntary liquidation.

The businesses, based at Trident Business Park, have stopped trading and nearly all the staff have been made redundant. According to Baker Tilly a few have been kept on to help the administrators who have appointed surveyors to review around 20 live building projects.

The company, which also has an office in Cumbria, recorded sales of £30m in the year to August 2013 and a pre-tax profit of £275,000. Recent projects included a 24,000 sq ft headquarters building for Golden Gates Housing Trust, the £1.65m refurbishment of the 127-year-old Oldham Coliseum theatre and a £1.7m extension at Hopwood Hall College in Rochdale.

According to Companies House records Globe Management Services’s directors are Kevin Hargreaves, Ian Threadgold and Lee Mills. Aprilis Holdings is jointly owned by Mr Hargreaves, Mr Threadgold and Wendy Billington.

Lindsey Cooper said: “The financial issues faced by the business were such that the directors had little choice but to place the companies into administration. Regrettably, we have had to make around 60 staff redundant, and our specialist employee team has been assisting them to make claims with the Redundancy Payments Office.”

A spokesman for the company declined to comment.
