A-Plant reaches higher with £15m investment

WARRINGTON company A-Plant has invested £15m in ramping-up its fleet of  powered and low level access machines.

The hire company, headquartered at Birchwood Park, has placed significant orders with six key suppliers for more than 720 new machines,  which are being deliverd to its 125 service centres nationwide before September.

The two largest deals comprise an order with Genie for 274 machines reflecting an investment of £6m, while another manufacturer, JLG has received an order in excess of £4.6m for 220 machines.

The Genie order comprises rough terrain diesel scissor lifts, diesel articulating booms and an extensive Electric range, including self-propelled electric scissor lifts.

Asif Latief, marketing director at A-Plant said: “This investment confirms A-Plant’s access fleet as one of the most up-to-date and efficient anywhere in the UK, as the new machines will replace our older models and the specification of environmentally-friendly equipment to meet green building requirements has been a key consideration.

“We now have a fleet of well over 2,000 powered access machines, in addition to thousands of non-mechanical, low level access machines, including self-propelled and push-around models, so we can offer our customers a huge selection across the rang, whatever their access requirements may be.”

The access investment forms part of a major capital expenditure programme for A-Plant to enhance its hire fleet. Fleet investment exceeded £100m in 2013 and a similar sum is expected to be reached this year.

A-Plant is part of FTSE-100 company Ashtead Group, which also has a large US business. A-Plant has more than 2,250 employees and supports over 30,000 customers in the construction, industrial, commercial, utility, public sector, homeowner and events markets.
