Inspired Energy powers ahead

INSPIRED Energy, the Lancashire-based energy procurement specialist, has reported a hike in interim sales and earnings.

The Kirkham business, which helps around 900 corporates and more than 5,800 small and medium-sized firms manage their energy costs, said pre-tax profits grew by 43% to £1.1m on sales of £5m, up 41%, in the six months to June.

Its corporate order book sales grew by 20% to £4.8m during the period, and revenue from SME clients quadrupled to £1.6m. The company said it had benefited from retaining clients as well as attracting new ones.

Managing director Janet Thornton said: “The corporate division continues to go from strength to strength and has performed exceptionally well, as demonstrated by the continued growth of its profitability, order book and reputation within the market.

“The SME division has performed in line with our expectations, allowing us to further invest in the team and the infrastructure of the business. The benefit of this investment will be seen in the second half of this year and beyond.”
