Total Fitness goes for gold with Becky Adlington

NORTH West gym chain Total Fitness is taking the plunge with former double Olympic gold medal winning swimmer Becky Adlington.

The Handforth company has agreed a partnership with Miss Adlington’s SwimStars business to launch a programme of swimming lessons across its 16 clubs across the North of England for 3-11 year olds.

The swimming lessons aim to teach children how to swim through building confidence in the water and fun interactive sessions.

Total Fitness offers three swimming pools at all its gyms and is currently investing significantly in upgrading its pools.

Chief executive Richard Millman said: “Total Fitness is proud to support Becky’s swimming vision for children. As a community-focused health club, we are committed to delivering the very best health and fitness opportunities for our local community. Swimming is an essential life-skill that we believe all school-children should be comfortable with, not just for safety but for confidence-building, good health and developing fitness habits early.

John Ahern, business development manager added:”The teachers on the programme have been specially trained to teach the Becky way and we are thrilled to be able to support them in our newly renovated pools.

“Total Fitness already has a successful partnership with Water Babies, which teaches swimming from birth, this programme will complement this existing partnership and strengthen our overall swimming offering for children.”

Headquartered in Bury, BASS – Becky Adlington SwimStars – is a partnership between Becky and Total Swimming Ltd, one of the UK’s largest and most innovative private specialist swimming companies in the UK.
