United lead the way in £835m transfer spending spree

TRANSFER spending by Barclays Premier League clubs hit a record £835m in the summer window, up more than 30% on last summer, Deloitte has calculated.

Manchester United, with the late confirmation of a loan deal for Columbian striker Falcao and the completion of a deal for Dutch player Daley Blind, were the most active club in the summer window.
