Worthington starts on £25m student scheme

WORTHINGTON Properties has started on a £25m student accommodation scheme in Liverpool’s city centre, after completing its acquisition of the site from the University of Liverpool.

Philharmonic Court, situated off Catharine Street, will have 354 student rooms.

It is being built on the site of an older accommodation block which has already been demolished. Foundations have been laid and steel work is expected to go up this month.

The development, funded by Santander, follows a 267-bed Worthington scheme called Dover Court in Great Newton Street, which is nearly finished.

Russell Worthington, development director of Worthington Properties, said: “We’re looking forward to seeing the development take shape and are proud to be working in partnership with the University once again. This is also the fourth time we’ve worked with Santander on a student scheme and it’s a strong funding partnership which supports our overall business strategy.”

Philharmonic Court should be finished by next August.
