Preferred raises the bar with luxury student fit-out

INTERIOR fit-out contractor Preferred Spaces has delivered a major upgrade at the Lambert and Fairfield Hall student accommodation block in Manchester.

The project, worth more than £1m, has seen luxury add-ons such as cinema rooms, a gym and a bowling alley introduced to the space.

Based on Granby Row, close to Manchester Piccaddilly Station, Lambert and Fairfield Hall was acquired in October 2013 by American property investor Greystar, which bought a portfolio of 21 student buildings in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and London from the administators of Manchester student property group Opal.

Sale-based Preferred Spaces completed the job after a nine week period, crucially in time for the new student in-take at the halls.

Managing director Jeremey Plastow said: “It’s been a really busy summer and we are delighted to have been involved on this important project for Greystar, which is one of the biggest property groups in the US, and which is investing significantly in the UK.

“Preferred Spaces was selected to work on this unique project due to its reputation for producing high quality fit outs. We worked closely with Keppie Design and Greystar every step of the way.

“We are proud to be associated with this best-in-class and only student amenity space of this nature in the UK. We have also completed other regional amenities at Liverpool, Huddersfield, Leicester and Wolverhamptom recently.”

Greystar’s construction and property manager Dave Thomas said: “We did an unprecedented amount of work in the summer on these properties which has all been completed to a very high standard.

“We’re extremely pleased with the outcome and the unbelievable amentities we’re offering students in Manchester.”
