Waitrose prepares to unveil Chester store

THE first full-sized Waitrose in Chester will open in November at the redeveloped Boughton Retail Centre.

The 30,000 sq ft shop will include the relocation of the small Waitrose in Foregate Street.

The branch, next to the Shropshire Union Canal, is part of a wider redevelopment which also includes a hotel, offices and smaller retail units.

Waitrose Chester branch manager, Dickie Danby, said: “This new branch will stand as a landmark step forward in the redevelopment taking place in Chester. The city is full of history and we are proud to be part of the regeneration scheme along the canal.

“Waitrose has made a significant investment in Chester and we are very happy to improve on our existing offer in the area. Work is now well underway, and we look forward to becoming a bigger part of the local community in November.”

The store is expected to employ 150 staff.
