Crawford Healthcare buys spray-on relief pioneer

CRAWFORD Healthcare, the fast-growing Cheshire advanced wound care company, has snapped up a US business which has developed a range of spray-on products to treat conditions such as nappy rash.

The Knutsford company has acquired Touchless Care Concepts, based in Louisville, Kentucky, for an undisclosed sum.

The  products use a patented spray mechanism that allows for a fast, touchless application to help avoid pain on fragile skin, save time and limit product waste. The products currently have significant sales in the US and Crawford plans to leverage its recently expanded US sales team to boost sales further still.

In the year to the end of March, Crawford Healthcare grew sales by 28% bto £13.4m, a rate which it believes makes it the fastest growing advanced wound care company in the UK.

The acquisition of TCC is the 15th acquisition or license deal that Crawford has completed since 2011 and the transaction is expected to be immediately positive to earnings.

Chief executive Richard Anderson said:  “This acquisition further strengthens our portfolio and moves Crawford into a new market sector that is closely linked to our core business of wound and skin care.  With Crawford’s sales and marketing strength and new US direct sales force we are very confident that we can rapidly expand geographical distribution and deliver large revenues from this range.”

Terry Bromley, senior VP and general manager or Crawford’s US Business, added: “We have just launched the entire Crawford portfolio, including TCC, to our new direct sales force. These are very experienced advanced wound care representitives who are excited and confident that Crawford will be a major success in the US, building on the already very successful UK company.”
