Driver wins major petrochemical job

DRIVER Group, the international construction consultancy headquartered in Lancashire, has secured a contract to project manage the conversion of a Teesside petrochemical plant to take US shale gas.

The Haslingden-based group, which is listed on the AIM market, said it had secured the deal with Saudi Arabia-based SABIC, a major global petrochemical business with plants throughout Europe.

In a market statement Driver said SABIC was planning a “very significant” investment to make the plant one of the most competitive in Europe.

Driver’s project controls services arm has won the work which involves managing the schedule and costs.

Chief executive Dave Webster said: “This award marks a significant step in our plans to substantially grow this area of our business in both the UK and our overseas territories.”

The value of the contract was not disclosed.
