Revolution bars founder Ellis to work with JW Lees

THE co-founder and former chief executive of Inventive Leisure, the company behind the Revolution vodka bar brand, is joining ambitious North West brewer and pub operator JW Lees.

Roy Ellis, an experienced leisure operator, who since leaving private equity-owned Inventive in November 2013 has launched a new venture, Flying Pig & Lobster and opened a first site  in Woolton near Liverpool, will work with JW Lees as an adviser to its board.

William Lees-Jones, managing director of family-owned JW Lees said Mr Ellis would support the company’s management team as it moves forward with its plan to invest more than £60m by opening 65 pubs and grow turnover  from £63m to £100m in the next five years.

He said: “We first met Roy nearly 20 years ago when we were supplying Inventive Leisure with wines and spirits through our Willoughby’s subsidiary. Roy is one of the finest operators of our generation and we are lucky to have him on board. Watch this space.”

Mr Ellis, replaces Pets at Home executive Sally Hopton in the external adviswee role.
