Profits surge at Topps Tiles

TOPPS Tiles has seen full-year like-for-like revenues grow by 8%.

This represents a marked turnaround from the previous year when sales contracted by 0.5%.

The Handforth-based retailer which trades from 335 stores nationwide said its annual figures are expected to show revenues of £195m, up from £177.8m, and a 30% surge in pre-tax profits to £17m.

Chief executive Matthew Williams said: “I am delighted to be concluding an excellent year for Topps in which we have achieved total sales growth of circa 10% and delivered a 30% increase in pre-tax profits.

“Our relentless focus on growing profitable market share continues to be the successful driver of our business. We are confident that we can make further progress, in this respect, during the year that lies ahead.”

The firm also said Stuart Davey, who has been with the business for nine years as company solicitor, will be appointed company secretary at the end of the month. Annual results will be announced on November 25.
