Reds go green with sustainability deal

MANCHESTER United has struck a deal with the Spanish conglomerate Abengoa which will be its first “sustainability partner”.

It said the partnership will see the club “enhance and develop its sustainable business practices”. This will involve saving resources and reducing waste.

Founded in 1941, Abengoa has operations in solar energy and renewable fuels.

The club’s group managing director Richard Arnold said: “Manchester United is proud of the all the work we have been doing over many years to meet the guidelines set in our sustainability policies; however we recognise how much more can be done to become even more environmentally-sound as a business.

“Through our partnership with Abengoa, we hope to learn more about how we can reach these goals and will seek their advice and assistance in implementing cutting edge technology that will help us become more sustainable.”
