LAW firm Mills & Reeve has appointed sports lawyer Carol Couse as a consultant.
Couse joins from Brabners where she was a partner. She specialises in sports law with a particular focus on football, advising professional football leagues, clubs, players, managers and agents on regulatory matters.
As a Spanish speaker, Couse often advises Spanish and Latin American clubs, players, managers and agents on contentious and non-contentious sports law matters. She will be based in Mills & Reeve’s Manchester office.

She has a wealth of experience in the sector and an excellent reputation, particularly in football where she has good links with clubs across the UK and internationally. DWF has appointed partner Helen Corner to its national corporate banking team.
She joins the law firm from the Manchester office of Addleshaw Goddard where she was a partner.
Corner specialises in asset-based lending, corporate lending, property finance and secured lending.
She said: “DWF has built a strong national banking practice and I’m looking forward to working with the wider team to further develop this offering. Fostering strong client relationships is extremely important to me, something that is echoed by DWF’s strategy, and the firm’s focus on key industry sectors ensures there are strong synergies with my practice.”

MICHELLE Rothwell, a senior surveyor in the office agency at CBRE in Manchester, is set to join one of its clients, developer Capital & Centric as development manager.
Rothwell joined CBRE as a graduate in 2010 and moved into the office agency team after completing two years of training.
She was promoted to senior surveyor in April 2014, with a client list that includes Peel and Bruntwood. Before CBRE she had placements at DTZ, Hynes & Co and Bailey Deakin & Hamiltons.

Michelle has a brilliant knowledge of Manchester city centre and great contacts, which will be invaluable as we focus on more projects in and around town. Her office agency background also adds a different dimension, as that is not an area of expertise currently covered within our team.”

MAX King has been appointed as director of projects by PlaceFirst, the Manchester based build-to-rent developer.
King has 20 years’ experience in managing complex construction projects and joins PlaceFirst from Deloitte, where he worked on the delivery of Citylabs, a high profile £25m redevelopment of the former Royal Eye Hospital Building in Manchester.
PlaceFirst aims to deliver over 1,000 units across the North within the next two years. King will be responsible for the control and delivery of these projects, which include the £15m regeneration of Woodnook, Accrington, and the £5m conversion of former guesthouses in the West End of Morecambe.
King said: “PlaceFirst is focused on a programme of significant development in the coming years and is a company with enormous potential overseen by a very strong management team. I’m delighted to be joining them at such an exciting time in its development programme and look forward to working alongside a team of such high calibre.”
