Appointments: Change at the top at Mills & Reeve, BDO; Baker Tilly; Pannone Corporate; & more

LAW firm Mills & Reeve has appointed partner Niall Innes to lead its Manchester office.

Innes will take over from existing head Mark Hovell, who led the integration of George Davies last year and is now focusing on growing the national firm’s sports sector.

Innes, who specialises in professional indemnity, will continue to lead the insurance team in Manchester.

Senior partner Mark Jeffries said: “Mark has done an outstanding job in steering the Manchester office through the integration period and delivering the business plan for the first year.

“His sports practice is developing really well both nationally and internationally, and it has become increasingly difficult for him to also fit in his head of office role. Niall is an ideal successor.”

ACCOUNTANCY group BDO has appointed three new senior people at its Liverpool office, recruiting a director and two senior managers.

Catherine Fairhurst joins the tax team following 27 years at EY, 15 of which as a partner, where she previously headed up the Entrepreneur of the Year awards programme in the North.

She advises mid-market companies and international groups on strategic tax planning and is also an accounting and finance tutor at Liverpool John Moores University.

Ailsa Cowdell joins the firm as a senior manager specialising in VAT. She has previously worked at PwC and KPMG in the North West, as well as starting up her own business and setting up a VAT practice for Howard Worth in Cheshire.

Graham Ellis joins as a senior manager in the audit department following nine years at Deloitte in Liverpool. He specialises in advising large corporates across the North West, with specific expertise in the manufacturing sector.

In addition, Lauren Fletcher has joined the Liverpool team from BDO’s Manchester office where she has been for seven years. The firm has also recruited five new trainees to its tax and audit departments as part of its award winning graduate programme.

SIMON Moulton has been promoted to director for Baker Tilly’s accounting & business advisory team in the North West.

He will lead the accounting and business advisory team across the firm’s six locations in the region, with a particular focus on fast growing SMEs and owner-managed businesses.

Jill Jones, Baker Tilly’s North West regional managing partner, said: “The team has already had a great deal of success within the region, and there are plans to strengthen and expand the service even further.

“Simon’s appointment will help them to build on their present success, and look for new opportunities for growth with existing and potential business clients within the region.”

PANNONE Corporate has appointed Craig Geraghty to its corporate team.

Geraghty who joins the team as a solicitor, was previously at Linder Myers.

Chairman Steven Grant said: “The corporate team has completed a substantial number of transactions in recent months and has a healthy flow of deals in the pipeline. We have recruited Craig to meet growing demand and are confident he will become a valuable member of the team.”

RUSSELLS Construction has added five to its team.

Four new quantity surveyors have been appointed to assist with the management of projects from tender to completion, and a new design manager has been appointed to liaise with architects.

The surveyors are: Mark Kenyon, who has worked for ISG and Shepherd Construction; Mark Turner who joins from Bilfinger Europa; Patrick Moors who has joined from Morris and Spottiswood; and Jamie Oldland from Carillion.

Design manager Mark Stocks spent almost eight years at Capita Symonds and two at Galliford Try.

THE Manchester office of CBRE has appointed Matthew Stott as graduate surveyor within its asset services team.

He worked in Dubai before his most recent position as an asset manager at The Mansion Group, a property manager in Cheadle.

Stott will be working with CBRE’s North West team on a number of projects including Birchwood Park.
