LANCASTER architects’ firm Harrison Pitt has appointed Jenny Etheridge as an architectural assistant after graduating from Nottingham Trent University.

As part of the year-long industrial placement, she will work alongside the practice’s architects, assisting in creating architectural drawings and surveys, making planning applications for new buildings and carrying out general administration duties.

Miss Etheridge, 21, will return to academia to study for a master’s degree in architecture next year.

Richard Wooldridge, a director at Harrison Pitt Architects, said: “While the route to become a fully-fledged architect is a rigorous process taking a minimum of seven years, the two compulsory placement years provide invaluable real-world experience.

“We have taken on an assistant for the past seven years, helping to develop aspiring architects through exposure to live projects. Jenny has made great strides in the short time she has been with us and I’m sure she will continue to flourish into a fantastic architect.”
