Morgan Sindall MD departs following shake-up

GRAHAM Shennan, managing director of construction group Morgan Sindall, has been made redundant.

The move comes a week after the group, which owns affordable housing firm Lovell and regional development business Muse, issued a profits warning.

Morgan Sindall said Mr Shennan’s departure was prompted by a reorganisation of the business which resulted in his role being axed.

It said it had introduced a “flatter” structure which will see Pat Boyle and Nick Fletcher, managing directors of construction and design and infrastructure respectively, report directly to chief executive John Morgan instead of a group managing director.

“Pat and Nick are working closely together to deliver complex, integrated projects for our clients which draw on our Construction and Infrastructure expertise. As a result of these changes, the role of managing director of Morgan Sindall plc has been made redundant and Graham Shennan has left the business,” said the company.

A week ago the group said its affordable housing, urban regeneration, fit-out and infrastructure divisions had performed well in the third quarter, but delays and higher costs on some London construction contracts had hit full-year forecasts.

Mr Shennan, who is based in Coventry, has been with Morgan Sindall since 2002.
