Oakes leaves Select Property

CHRIS OAKES, the boss of upmarket Alderley Edge housing developer Huntsmere, has parted company with the Select Property Group.

He teamed up with Select founder Mark Stott several years ago to launch an upmarket student accommodation business Vita.

It has made rapid progress, completing a 280-bed block at First Street in Manchester and starting similar projects in Liverpool, Bristol, Exeter and Southampton.

A spokesman for Select said: “Chris has left the group in order to focus on the growth of Huntsmere, the luxury design and development business he established in 2004. We wish him well with all his endeavours and thank him for his contribution in helping to establish the successful Vita Student brand.”

Angus Monro, former Matalan chief executive, is Alderley Edge-based Select’s chairman and an investor in the Vita business.
