New North Sea licence for Enegi

MANCHESTER-based oil exploration firm Enegi Oil has secured a Government production licence for a North Sea oil field.

The firm said block 21/28b in the central North Sea was next to the Fyne project area where it has been exploring the potential of difficult-to-reach oil with Aberdeen-based ABT.

ABT has devised a way of using unmanned buoys to access offshore reserves and Enegi plans to use this knowledge in the new area which will be developed through a joint venture with Antrim Energy.

Chief executive Alan Minty said: “This licence was identified and applied for specifically for the discoveries that it contains, their close proximity to our existing Fyne Project and the potential for them to be developed using our buoyant technologies.

“We believe that the expertise and knowledge that we have gained from the work we have completed on the Fyne and Phoenix Projects will also be significantly beneficial to us on advancing these assets.”
