Countryside continues with Lower Broughton redevelopment

COUNTRYSIDE Properties has submitted plans for 93 houses on a former university site close to Salford Meadows.

The development is the seventh phase of the wider Lower Broughton regeneration programme which involves the construction of 3,500 homes.

Countryside wants to build a mix of three and four bedroom homes of Meadow Road.

In a planning document it said: “The dwellings are 100% open market, which will assist in helping to rebalance the housing market given that a significant amount of affordable housing has been provided as part of the wider New Broughton development.”

When phase eight is completed 1,782 homes will have been built, including 650 classed as affordable.

The regeneration of Lower Broughton started in 2005 as part of the Labour Government’s doomed Pathfinder housing market renewal project which was pulled by the coalition.
