Lennon tooth auctioneer moves to Warrington

AN auctioneer that specialises in music memorabilia, and sold one of John Lennon’s wisdom teeth this year, has moved from Stockport to a new base in Warrington.

Omega Auctions is leaving Meadow Mill at junction 27 of the M60 for a 6,000 sq ft unit at Langtree’s Penketh Business Park which will become its main auction room with 16 staff.

Omega holds bi-monthly auctions for collectables, such as vintage toys, stamps and military medals, and quarterly auctions for music memorabilia.

Earlier this year it sold Lennon’s wisdom tooth to a Canadian dentist for £23,000. The dentist is now working with US doctors in a bid to extract DNA from it and clone the former Beatle.

The company also recently sold Elvis’ personal annotated bible for £59,000 and capes worn by George Harrison and Ringo Starr in the 1965 film Help!, which went for over £50,000 each.

Omega’s final music sale in Stockport will include a rare copy of the Sex Pistols’ God Save the Queen 7”, copy number 7 of The Beatles White Album, and the costumes worn by Madonna.

Langtree’s property manager Kathryn Smart said: “It is a fascinating company which will bring a whole new audience to the town. Personally, I can’t wait for their sales to start in the new year, they are going to be quite something.”
