Inflation creeps up to 1.3%

THE rate of inflation nudged up 0.1% to 1.3% in October, the Office for National Statistics said.

The ONS said that even though the cost of fuel and airfares had fallen last month, they had reduced at a slower rate than in October 2013, contributing to the slight increase.

There was also upward pressure from the recreation and culture sector, with increased costs of computer games.

The Bank of England’s target is 2%.
