Blackpool Airport to re-open, but not to commercial traffic

BALFOUR Beatty is re-opening Blackpool Airport but it will not handle commercial flights.

The group has incorporated a new company called Squires Gate Airport Operations that will service small aircraft and helicopters.

Balfour Beatty closed the loss-making airport last month, with the loss of around 100 jobs, after failing to find a buyer. The biggest operator was Jet2 which has moved its flights to Manchester.
