Fred Done takes chair at CardOne
VETERAN North West entrepreneur Fred Done has become chairman of Chester-based consumer and business lender CardOneBanking.
Mr Done, whose interests span from property, betting, sports tours and also truckers’ cafes, invested in the business five years ago.
CardOneBanking began trading in 2007 to offer consumers and small businesses a route to having a current account without being confronted by the usual bureaucracy and red tape presented by the major banks. It says its current account can be opened in just three seconds, without a credit check and its business account takes just 24 hours to be opened.
It conducts more than £600m in customer transactions annually.
Fred Done said: “Having invested in CardOneBanking from January 2009, I have been impressed not only with the pace of expansion but also how the management team led by managing director Adam Rigler has built a reputation to be proud of.
“We offer common sense banking managed by ethical people which has given me the appetite to challenge the establishment once again”
He added: “For me it is always about people. Life is stressful enough without facing the big banks if all you need is a flexible way of having a current account, a MasterCard debit card, direct debits, faster payments, free SMS alerts and to have access to mobile and internet banking. CardOneBanking is definitely on track to make the big boys think more about putting the customer, whoever they are,first.”

CardOneBanking currently has 60 staff based in Chester and has ambitious plans to grow. It is a trading name of Spectrum Payment Services.
