£1m loan to help Aura Healthcare’s growth

AN ambitious healthcare-focused  technology company has received a loan of more than £1m from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority to support growth and so create jobs in Salford.

Aura Healthcare has received £1.1m under the GMCA’s investment framework, the Greater Manchester Investment Fund, which is supported by the Government’s Regional Growth Fund.

The business was launched in November 2012 with five people but now employs 30 full-time staff and plans to double that number in the next two years.  It moved to new offices at Salford Quays in July.

Chief executive Adrian Stevens said of the new funding: “This is an investment in jobs. We are building a business that is sustainable and one that will create real opportunities for young people and become a significant partner in the Greater Manchester community.

“The authority’s due diligence was meticulous, but was a valuable exercise and is further evidence that our plans are sensible and attainable.”

Managing director Mark Hindle added:”The GMCA is our ideal partner as it shares our commitment to the region and to building something tangible for the future. The funding is important as it will fuel the next phase of our development and support future growth as well as help maintain momentum in the healthcare sector as innovation becomes a key driver.”

Ian Stewart, elected City Mayor for Salford, said: “I’m delighted to see a company using the latest technology to create jobs, particularly for young people in Salford. Aura Healthcare has seen fantastic growth since it was launched two years ago. This funding will help it continue to grow.”
