Power bills set to fall says Electricity North West

BUSINESS and residential users’ power bills are set to be cut by almost £20 a year following a reduction in prices by regional network operator, Electricity North West.

Electricity North West,  Warrington company that owns the region’s network of overhead lines and underground cables, has had its proposals endorsed by regulator Ofgem.

Chief executive Steve Johnson said: “Currently almost £120 from each household electricity bill in Manchester and across the North West comes to us to invest in the local network.

“From April next year, we’re cutting our part of people’s bills to just over £100, meaning that customers will pay just 28p a day to us to transport power through our vast network of wires and infrastructure.”

The North West price cut is said to the largest of any region in Great Britain, and Ofgem has praised Electricity North West for being one of the most efficient of the 14 network operators.

“We already operate one of the most reliable networks in the country, and now we’ve been shown to be the most efficient too. This is great news for the region and great news for bill payers.”
