RLB surveyor scoops top award

A SURVEYOR at Manchester-based property and construction consultant Rider Levett Bucknall has won the RICS Young Surveyor of the Year Award.

Building Surveyor Sam Bensky was chosen over five other competitors to win the title, which recognises outstanding achievement in all areas of building surveying.

Judges praised his “proactive approach” and willingness to take on challenging schemes such as work in high containment laboratories.

He has also developed RLB’s Ska Rating service which offers a way of assessing a building’s environmental credentials.

Mr Bensky said: “I’m absolutely delighted and very honoured to have won this special award. The competition was extremely tough, but being a part of it has been very worthwhile. I’d like to thank Rider Levett Bucknall for all their support and help and also everyone at RICS Matrics for a great competition.”

RLB’s Danny Roberts, who also works in the Manchester office, was highly commended in the Project Management category. He works on a number of high profile projects in the region, including the £50m mixed-use Baron’s Quay development in Northwich.

Chris Hartley, managing partner for the Manchester office, said: “The awards provided a great opportunity to celebrate the most inspirational young professionals in the UK. We’re delighted for both Sam and Danny, achieving this fantastic recognition from their peers.”
