DLA confirms St Peter’s Square move

LAW firm DLA Piper has confirmed its widely anticipated move to a new office block in St Peter’s Square, Manchester.

The firm has agreed a 15-year lease on 45,000 sq ft at the 280,000 sq ft One St Peter’s Square which will be home to the accountancy group KPMG in the new year.

DLA will join KPMG, which has taken 73,500 sq ft, when it relocates from 101 Barbirolli Square in mid-2016.

Liam Cowell, office managing partner at DLA in Manchester, said: “Our new location is a real symbol of the firm’s commitment to Manchester and our intention to remain at the heart of the local business community. Having all of our staff under one roof will further boost the collegiate atmosphere and make the practicalities of every day work easier for all. One St Peter’s Square is an impressive and prestigious new office building and we are very much looking forward to our move in 2016.”

Cllr Kieran Quinn, chair of GMPF, said: “Having recently completed and launched the building, the development is now 44% let. We have serious interest from other potential occupiers and we expect to make further announcements soon.”

DLA’s move will be the first of several from Barbirolli Square as leases expire in the coming years. PwC has been linked with Allied London’s planned 1 Spinningfields in Quay Street and EY may go to Fred Done’s proposed office block which will sit next to One St Peter’s Square. Addleshaw Goddard is also understood to be looking at potential new locations.

One St Peter’s Square has been developed by Argent and the Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund. Savills and GVA are the joint letting agents for One St Peter’s Square. GVA advised DLA Piper.
