Turkish delight sees airline go triple daily

TURKISH Airlines is expanding its operations from Manchester, moving to a triple daily service from June 2015.

The carrier says the expansion follows greater demand for international travel and growth in passenger numbers.

Currently operating 14 flights a week from Manchester to Istanbul,  Turkish Airlines is adding four flights per week as from May 25 2015, followed by an extra three per week from June 22.

Ersen Engin, general manager for Manchester at Turkish Airlines said: “Outside of London, Manchester is the biggest UK airport London, serving almost 22 million passengers a year to reach more than 200 destinations worldwide.  Over the summer months, these numbers are expected to soar as residents of Manchester and surrounding areas embark on their summer vacations.

“In 2014, we saw our passenger numbers increase by 18% from January to August, compared to the same period in 2013.”

A Manchester Airport spokesperson said: “We welcome the news that Turkish Airlines is going triple daily from Manchester Airport. The increased capacity is testament to the success of the route and of the demand in our catchment area to fly directly from Manchester Airport.

“Not only does the route offer more flexibility and choice for our passengers, but it also offers excellent onward travel and better connection times across Turkish Airlines’ network.”
