McBride replaces chief executive

OWN-label manufacturer McBride has axed its chief executive Chris Bull with immediate effect.

The Middleton-based company, which has been on a cost cutting drive this year amid tough market conditions, said Mr Bull was being replaced by Belgian executive Rik De Vos.

De Vos will take up the role during the first quarter of 2015 on a date yet to be confirmed.  Until his arrival the company’s executive team will report to chairman Iain Napier, Mc Bride said in a statement to the stock market.

The new CEO elect is currently global general manager for the flexible foam division of Recticel, the quoted Belgian company, which operates in 28 countries and employs 7,800 people.

Mr Bride said: “Rik brings extensive general management experience internationally as well as proven success in completing several strategic turnaround projects where businesses have been restored to profitable growth.

“His skill base is particularly relevant to McBride as the group restructures its existing business and seeks expansion opportunities in continental Europe.”

Mr Bull will  make himself available to ensure an orderly handover to the new chief executive “if and when required”, the company added.

lain Napier, chairman of McBride said: “The board are delighted to welcome Rik with his extensive and relevant experience which we are confident will drive forward our restructuring and growth plans.

“We would also like to thank Chris Bull for his efforts over the past few years and wish him well for the future.”
