Ireland’s biggest hotelier snaps up Bewley’s

THE Bewley’s Hotel at Manchester Airport has changed hands as part of a wider £358m deal.

Ireland’s largest hotel operator Dalata has agreed a deal to buy nine hotels, with a total of 2,500 rooms, run by Moran Bewley.

The portfolio includes four hotels in Dublin, two hotels in London and three in Cork, Manchester and Leeds.

Dalata said the deal would give it exposure to three “attractive UK hotel markets”, London, Manchester and Leeds, and provide a platform from which to grow in the future.

Dalata’s chief executive Pat McCann said: “The acquisition of the Moran Bewley’s Hotel Group is a transformational development for Dalata, it is a business we have admired for a long time and the acquisition is a rare opportunity to acquire a large well invested portfolio of hotels.”
