March opening for DoubleTree Liverpool hotel

THE latest entrant to the Liverpool hospitality scene, the DoubleTree by Hilton, is expected to open in March.

The 87-room four-star property will be the city’s first under the DoubleTree brand.

Located in the city’s former Municipal Annexe on the corner of Sir Thomas and Dale Street, the hotel’s Grade II-listed building will retain its grandeur from when it was first built in 1865.

Currently being refurbished and renovated the hotel will feature a restaurant,  executive lounge, spa and swimming pool, as well as conference and events facilities for up to 220 people.

The hotel will be operated under the DoubleTree by Hilton brand by management company Interstate Hotels and Resorts, which has appointment of Terence Southward as general manager.

Southward brings 21 years of experience in hospitality management to the venue, having previously run Haydock Park Racecourse for The Jockey Club, Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Spa and also worked for Feathers Hotel and Catering Company for five years.

He said: “I have great pride returning to the city to a unique property where new build will join together with two architecturally and historically significant grade II listed buildings.

“DoubleTree by Hilton has a globally renowned service culture, and I am a firm believer in ensuring the emphasis of a customer’s experience is on the attention to detail, mirroring the philosophy of ‘the little things that mean everything’.”
